Over 40 guests representing the past and present of BU were present to celebrate the achievements of Bees United and the role it has played in ensuring the survival of a club that had fallen upon hard times but for whom the future is now bright with continued success on the field matched by the prospect of the new community stadium at Lionel Road coming to fruition within the next few years.
Guests included former Chairman of the Football Association and Brentford FC, Greg Dyke, Ruth Cadbury, MP for Brentford & Isleworth, Councillor John Chatt from the London Borough of Hounslow, Brian Burgess, Eddie Rogers and several current and former board members of both the club and Bees United.
The achievements of Bees United were recognised and acknowledged in excellent speeches by current Trust Chairman, David Merritt and Brentford Chairman Cliff Crown and everyone present enjoyed an afternoon of jollity, reminiscence and celebration and their enthusiasm could not even be dampened by the defeat suffered by Brentford at the hands of Barnsley.
Bees United would like to take this opportunity to thank every member of the Trust since its formation without whose efforts the football club might well not be in existence today.
