John McGlashan and Stephen Callen, two of the Bees United directors serving on the board of Brentford FC, were appointed as Executive Directors of the club yesterday. Subsequently, John resigned as Chairman of Bees United, and Brian Burgess was elected as the new Chairman by the Society Board.
Brian said, "Bees United has made incredible progress in a relatively short time. John is doing a fantastic job leading the Trust and deserves the gratitude of every Brentford fan. The announcement from the Brentford FC board marks the next significant step in the evolution of Bees United as it now takes operational control of the football club.
John will be working full time in two demanding roles as an Executive Director of the club, and as Chief Executive of Bees United. So we must give him and everyone involved at Brentford our full support to meet the challenges ahead."
The new arrangements have been made in response to the dramatic changes which have haapened in the football club during the past week. Ron Noades has resigned as director and chairman of the football club, and Andrew Wainwright and Stephen Callen have both been appointed as directors.
The Club's new Chairman is Eddie Rogers, who fills the role in a non-executive capacity, and John McGlashan has also been appointed as company secretary.
