Four members of Bees United have put their names forward for the four vacancies on the Supporters’ Trust’s board. This means there will not be a contested election this year.
The four comprise newcomers David Carpenter and Chris Tate together with current Bees United Chairman David Merritt and current board member Donald Kerr.
Stephen Callen, Bees United’s Treasurer and a former Club Director, has decided not to stand for re-election. He has been on the Bees United board since he was elected at the Trust’s first Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 22 September 2001. We thank him for his commitment and contribution as a board member over the past nine years.
Stephen Dando has decided to resign at the forthcoming AGM for personal reasons after two years on the Bees United board.
A Bees supporter since the early 1940s, David Carpenter retired as a Senior Communications Officer with Surrey County Council. He hopes to contribute to Bees United in areas such as new stadium development, supporters’ interests and community engagement.
A sponsored walker to both Brighton and Stockport, Chris Tate is a construction project manager who says he will be “incredibly proud” to be directly involved in decisions which may ultimately shape the future of “our beloved football club”. “It is an opportunity of which the majority of football fans across the world can only dream,” he adds.
All candidates are subject to an affirmative vote at the AGM. Meanwhile, the two new candidates will be invited as observers to Bees United board meetings that occur before the AGM.
