We would also like to offer our personal thanks for all that Greg has done for Brentford Football Club and BU over the last seven years.
Originally a BU nominated director, Greg was named as Brentford’s Chairman when BU became its majority shareholders in 2006. He made his own money available to help keep the club from entering into administration as well as allowing BU to complete their takeover. Greg has remained as Chairman throughout the period of BU ownership and helped as we navigated through to Matthew Benham becoming the Club’s new owner.
Speaking after the news was announced, BU Chairman and Club Director David Merritt said, “Greg has done a remarkable job. The role of being a Chairman is a tough one in any organization, and particularly so at a Football Club that has travelled the journey Brentford has over the last seven years. He will be an incredibly hard act to follow”.
Whilst a sad loss for the club, it is a massive complement and testament to his abilities – and to Brentford FC – that the FA have selected him for this role.
On behalf of BU, congratulations, and thank you, Greg. Good luck with the challenges that await you!
