Natasha Judge gives an update on the status of the walk and where the walkers have reached in the planning stages.
First of all a big thank you to those who have already donated or pledged money to the cause, we have so far collected approximately £1250. The walkers would very much like to increase this figure and hope to do so at the Bradford game today. Donation points will be located in the Braemar Road forecourt and hopefully the New Road stand.
The funds raised will be split (75:25) between the Paul Levitt Foundation and Bees United and the walkers hope that the funds will be used to boost the Player Fund. If we could exceed our target of £5,000 and emulate the Fighting Chance scheme of a couple of seasons ago, we could really make a difference to the team next season. Please please donate all you can, it will make those 190 miles seem far shorter!
The walk has managed to attract some media attention, being featured on BBC Radio London this week, in The London Paper, The Chronicle and of course all the channels associated with the club, Bees United website and newsletter, the programme, the official site and of course the Griffin Park Grapevine. Thorne in the Side will also be running an article. I have been in contact with several of the national newspapers, Sky Sports Big League Weekend, Soccer AM, BBC, Westside Radio and Radio Jackie and I hope to have some more interest sparked off as the event draws nearer.
Every effort is still being made to secure corporate sponsorship, with several local organisations being approached, if anyone would like to receive further details, donate goods or services that may help or support us in any other way, please do email me at Natasha.judge@beesunited.org.uk.
Finally, a great big thank you to all of those that are being brave enough to attempt this massive trek on behalf of our club. With the support of their fellow Bees fans, I am sure the blisters and the aches and pains will be worthwhile.
